About Break X Golf

Break X Golf is a golf practice app that benchmarks how you play, works out the numbers you need to hit your scoring goal, and tells you exactly what and how to practise — for golfers who want a plan built on their own game.

It combines strokes-gained stats tracking and personalised practice plans in one app, and is used by golfers from beginners to PGA Professionals, plus coaches, high schools and colleges.

What Break X Golf does

Getting better at golf has three hidden steps. Most apps stop at the first one. Break X Golf does all three.

1

Benchmark how you play

Enter your rounds using a database of 40,000+ courses, or add stats manually. You get strokes gained for driving, approach, short game and putting, plus your shot dispersion.

2

Find the numbers you need to hit your goal

Set a target, such as breaking 80. The app shows the strokes-gained targets you need in each area and which of 24 sub-skills are costing you the most shots.

3

Know what and how to practise

You get a 4-week plan of 1–7 sessions a week, 30–90 minutes each. Every session includes a warm-up, blocked practice and a skills challenge with targets benchmarked to your handicap.

What makes Break X Golf different

Stats and practice in one app

Stats apps such as Arccos, Shot Scope and Clippd show you where you lose shots. Practice apps such as CoreGolf and Draw More Circles give you drills and games. Break X Golf connects the two: your own data decides what you practise and how.

Personalised practice, not a drill library

Every plan is built around the sub-skills costing you the most shots. Each session blends blocked practice, to build a skill, with skills games that put it under pressure so it transfers to the course.

Challenges that get harder as you improve

Hit your targets and tougher challenge levels unlock. That keeps your practice at the right level of difficulty — not so easy it’s pointless, not so hard it’s demoralising.

Plans that re-optimise as you play

Each time you enter a new round, the app checks whether there’s a better way for you to practise and prompts you to generate a new plan. Our practice methodology is grounded in motor-learning science and refined with the data we gather.

Built by a PGA Professional

The plans are based on how Will Shaw, a PGA Professional with a PhD in motor control, has built practice plans for tour professionals and amateurs over 20 years of coaching.

Who uses Break X Golf

  • Golfers who want to improve and can practise at least 30 minutes a week (ideally an hour or more)
  • Golfers who want a plan to follow that’s based on how they actually play
  • Golfers of every level — the app is used by beginners through to PGA Professionals
  • Golfers who already track stats with Arccos or another app and want a practice plan from that data
  • Home simulator users — most simulators that track where the ball lands work, and you can track strokes gained and dispersion from sim rounds
  • Golfers practising through winter — skip short-game sessions you can’t complete and focus on long game and putting
  • Golfers working with a coach, who share their stats to get more from lessons
  • Coaches running monthly plans for their players
  • US high schools and colleges using it to track stats and practice for their squads

Who it’s not for

  • Golfers who practise less than 30 minutes a week
  • Golfers looking for quick hacks
  • Golfers who want detailed swing technique instruction from an app — Break X Golf shows your data, weaknesses and dispersion and how to practise most efficiently. Pair it with a coach for technique.
  • Golfers with only a home net and no way to track where the ball lands

Why we built it

Golfers kept asking Will to build them practice plans. Doing it by hand took a long time, was expensive for players, and tracking whether their practice was actually working was even harder.

Break X Golf solves that. It makes elite-level practice planning accessible to every golfer. We get golf, and we know how golfers improve.

How Break X Golf works

  1. Sign up and answer a few quick questions. It takes less than 5 minutes.
  2. Start your plan. You get sessions built around the parts of your game costing you the most shots.
  3. Practise and beat your targets. Each session has a warm-up, blocked practice and a skills challenge. Hit your targets to unlock tougher levels.
  4. Enter new rounds. The app detects when there’s a better way for you to practise and prompts you to generate a new plan. It takes the guesswork out of practice and keeps it fun.

Break X Golf is available on iOS, Android and the web, with a 7-day free trial. Questions? Contact us at admin@breakxgolf.com.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need sensors or a launch monitor?

No. Enter your rounds by searching our 40,000+ course database or by adding stats manually. If you already use Arccos or another tracker, you can copy your stats in one round at a time. There’s no automatic sync yet — we’ll look to add one when it becomes possible.

How much practice time do I need?

At least 30 minutes a week, ideally an hour or more. Plans run from 1 to 7 sessions a week, each 30–90 minutes.

Does Break X Golf work in winter or on a home simulator?

Yes. You can skip short-game sessions you can’t complete and focus on long game and putting challenges. Most simulators that track where the ball lands work, and you can track strokes gained and dispersion from sim rounds.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. It’s used by beginners through to PGA Professionals, and challenge targets are benchmarked to your handicap.

How is Break X Golf different from Arccos or Shot Scope?

Arccos and Shot Scope track your stats. Break X Golf tracks your stats too, then uses them to tell you what and how to practise — and updates your plan as your game changes.

Can I use it with my coach?

Yes, and it works very well that way. Share your stats and dispersion data with your coach so they can target your lessons. Coaches also use Break X Golf to run monthly plans for their players.

Will it teach me swing technique?

No. Break X Golf shows your data, weaknesses and dispersion, and how to practise most efficiently. For detailed technique, pair it with a coach.

How much does Break X Golf cost?

$19 a month or $179 a year, with a 7-day free trial.
